Why install a fresh air replacement system?

A fresh air replacement system is an essential part of any commercial kitchen. Current guidelines advise all commercial kitchens have some type of mechanical air replacement system in place. These systems ensure to:

  • Replace air removed by extraction system
  • Prevent odors escaping the kitchen area
  • Keep a good air quality for employees and customers
  • Reduce CO levels

Covid Safe Kitchen with Fresh Air Replacement

Make your commercial kitchen Covid safe with a fresh air supply system.

The law pre-covid, stated that there must be an adequate supply of fresh air in any enclosed work space. This has not changed since the pandemic and is now, perhaps, even more important.

Due to the risk of aerosol transmission (when someone breathes in small particles in the air (aerosols) after a person with the virus has been in the same enclosed area), it is now more important than ever to have a fresh air supply to reduce that risk.

Aswell as reducing the risk of aerosol transmission, a mechanical fresh air supply system reduces CO2 levels in poorly ventilated, enclosed areas such as commercial kitchens.

Pictured above – an example of a recent fresh air supply system installed by our engineers at a hotel in Malton, North Yorkshire. Fitted into the external wall, the system comprises of a plate fan with 4 way diffuser, louvre and a replaceable filter to filtrate any bugs, dust and debris from outside.

Take a look at a recent publication by HSE detailing guidance for ventilation post-covid. Ventilation and air conditioning during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic (hse.gov.uk). Now the hospitality industry is running as normal, it is essential we make kitchens as Covid safe as possible with fresh air supply systems.
